Lone Pine (Yalnız Çam)
Lone Pine, Kanlısırt olarak bilinen tepeye işgal kuvvetleri tarafından verilen addır. Savaş döneminde bu bölgede bulunan bir çam ağacından esinlenilerek lone pine (yalnız çam) verilmiştir. Söz konusu çam ağacı günümüze ulaşamamış ancak bugün Lone Pine Mezarlığı'nın bulunduğu bölgede bu ağacın anısına (ve alana verilen ada uygun olarak) tek bir çam ağacı yetiştirilmiştir.
1916 yılında bölgeye bir Türk anıtı dikildiyse de, Lone Pine Anıtı'nın yapımı sırasında İngilizler tarafından yıkılmıştır. (url-1)
Tansel'e (2010, s.49) göre Lone Pine adı, o dönem Avustralya'da ünlü olan "The Trial of the Lonesome Pine" şarkısından esinlenilerek verilmiştir.

Lone Pine
Lone Pine is the name given by the occupying forces to the hill known as Kanlısırt. The name "lone pine" was inspired by a pine tree that stood in this area during the war. Although that pine tree has not survived to the present day, a single pine tree has been planted in the area where the Lone Pine Cemetery is located today, in memory of that tree (and in accordance with the name given to the site).
Although a Turkish monument was erected in the area in 1916, it was demolished by the British during the construction of the Lone Pine Memorial. (url-1)
According to Tansel (2010, p. 49), the name Lone Pine was inspired by the song “The Trial of the Lonesome Pine,” which was popular in Australia at the time.

Üçüncü sıradaki tarihi fotoğrafın kaynağında (url-2), yakındaki haç işaretinin üzerinde, muharebe sırasında ölen Er James Arthur Geddes'in adının okunabildiği belirtilmektedir. Tahta haçlar geçen zamana dayanmayacağı ve bölgeye sonradan bir mezarlık inşa edildiği için aynı fotoğrafı tekrarlama imkanı olmasa da, günümüz fotoğrafının ilk yarısında Er James Arthur Geddes'ın bugünkü mezar taşı ve ikinci yarısında da mezar taşının anıta göre konumu görünmektedir. Er James Arthur Geddes Eylül 1915'de ölmüş, günümüz fotoğrafı ise tam 110 yıl sonra, Eylül 2025'de çekilmiştir. Ayrıca günümüz fotoğrafı Lone Pine'a adını veren tek çam ağacının anısına yetiştirilen ağacı da göstermektedir.
In the source (url-2) of the historical photograph in the third row, it is stated that the name of Private James Arthur Geddes, who was killed in action, can be read on the nearby wooden cross. Since the wooden crosses could not withstand the passage of time and a cemetery was later constructed in the area, it is not possible to reproduce the same photograph today. However, in the present-day photograph, the first half shows Private James Arthur Geddes’s current gravestone, while the second half shows the location of this gravestone in relation to the memorial. Private James Arthur Geddes died in September 1915, and the present-day photograph was taken exactly 110 years later, in September 2025. The present-day photograph also shows the pine tree planted in memory of the lone pine that gave Lone Pine its name.
